Becoming a Family

We are the Hybl Family. For those of you who don't know our past before we became "The Hybl's," we would like to give you a brief introduction. It is truly the oldest story in the book. Boy meets girl, girl meets boy, girl falls in love with boy, boy marries girl, and baby makes three. Well sorta.....It probably reads much more like this....Boy meets girl, boy and girl fall in love, boy and girl spend years deciding whether they can't live With or Without each other and finally decide to get hitched. One hurricane weekend at the beach, a name change, and happily ever after. Two years after marrying Ryan and I were so excited to learn we were going to be a family and on September 4th, 2007 exactly three years after being married, Adyline Kennedy joined our family.
Ryan and I both attended the University of Georgia where he played golf and majored in business and I majored in education. After school Ryan took a job as the assistant golf coach at UGA and I taught school. We both decided that we wanted more and went for it. Ryan turned Pro and played professional golf for a year on the mini tours but an elbow injury would turn our lives back to college golf.
In June of 2009 Ryan took the head coaching position for the men's golf program at the University of Oklahoma. Months of living apart finally lead to Adyline and I becoming Oklahoma girls.
This is our life in the fast lane. We hope you enjoy being parts of our lives. GO SOONERS!!

Look What I Found!!!

A Saturday afternoon walk in the woods.....and look what Ady found. Well that is not the whole story, but little eyes will learn to read and some stories are best kept as they are remembered and not exactly as they were.

Back to Georgia

Two Georgia girls headed back to the deep south for a little R &R...well one of us had rest and relaxation...the other is completely played out and currently taking a 3 hour nap.

No It's Not a Twista It's a Blizzard

Spring Tease

Highs near 75 and beautiful sunshine have come to Oklahoma in the form of a spring tease. Ady and I have spent the last two days with the doors open, allowing for that winter dry air to escape and the spring fresh air to enter our home. Yesterday, Ady and I put on our tank tops, played out in the backyard and took in some vitamin D. This spring weather is sure to leave as quick as it came. We are expecting ice, sleet, and snow come Monday night including life threatening wind chills (The weathermen out here are so dramatic!). Hope all of you back home will get some of this good weather come Sunday and Monday.

Flower Drama

Wednesdays are usually the one day a week that I can count on that does not involve work, unless I open up that can of worms and choose to be involved with work. Today was not one of those days. I received a call from my flower wholesaler who said that my royal velvet amaryllis stems had arrived in a bright orange shade and wanted to know what color floral spray I wanted her to send me so that I correct the shade. "Are you kidding me? I am not going to spray these amaryllis with floral spray paint. I need the correct flower that I ordered!" The wholesaler then went into this long story about how that was what she ordered and there would be no way to get in the right flower before my event on Saturday. I then took a pause and let some expletives roll through my brain, wishing I could tell her exactly what I thought. Okay I thought, well what are you going to do. Two seconds later she called again. "We see that the weather tomorrow is calling for freezing rain and snow so we will not be delivering your order tomorrow, do you want it today?" Well, that would be great, but I am not working today. "If we don't get them to you today, it will probably be Friday afternoon before you get them." That will not work!!! I need for all of the flowers to open up and I can not do twelve hours worth of floral work without the flowers being open. Send them today, I said. Two minutes later....."Ms. Becca, yes its me again, the callas you needed for Saturday are all ruined. I went ahead and ordered more, but they will be fedexed to us tomorrow which means you will probably have them by Friday but maybe Saturday morning. Aren't you glad I was able to get more for you by then." At this point, my Wednesday had turned into Winesday....Oh yeah, I forgot, I am pregnant! No wine for me!!! What a sucky day! Hope everyone else is having better luck than I am.

What a Lazy Weekend!

This could be the laziest weekend I have ever had in my entire life. Ryan is away for the weekend recruiting, so Ady and I have had the house to ourselves. We literally have been in our pajamas all weekend. We have showered twice, but changed into new sets of pajamas each time. Ady has watched movies, brought out every toy imaginable from the holidays, and become a master at Nintendo Wii Ping Pong. I have lazily watched her, wallowed around in an unmade bed, watched way too many hours of food network, and followed that up with a couple of meaningless hours of cooking in the kitchen. I had quite a few disasters, but came across a great little fast recipe.

Boil baby red potatoes until they are tender, drain, and let them cool for 5 minutes. Then take one potato at a time and literally squash them into a flat patty. (All you are doing is putting your hand on the top of the boiled potato and mashing down) This still leaves you with a potato that looks a bit crumbled but holds together nicely. Then place the flat potatoes in an olive oil prepared frying pan and get them crispy about 4 minutes on each side. I salted mine with seasoning salt, but you wouldn't have to season them at all if you didn't want to. They are amazing, they have just enough crunch that they remind you of eating french fries, but reasonably healthy ones. Ady wanted a dash of sour cream on top of hers....but overall a great little carb snack on the side of a BLT sandwich!

So I am sitting here feeling guilty about such a lazy weekend and sweet Ady comes up to me, puts her head on my shoulder and says, "I love you mama, we are having so much fun today." I then responded, "really, what have you liked the best about this weekend?" Well she says, "My rose of my day was getting to stay in pajamas all day and all night. And my thorn of my day was.......(long pause)......having to sleep in my bed...cause I really wanted to sleep in your big bed. Maybe tonight I can sleep in your bed."

Even 3 year olds like lazy weekends and to try and sneak a night in Mama's bed while Papa is away ;)
